Published by Project X Foundation for Art & Criticism,  X-TRA is Los Angeles’ longest-running contemporary art journal. Particularly meaningful in today’s media landscape: X-TRA is a fiercely independent platform. Maintaining this unremitting independence is what allows us to support and facilitate opportunities for artists to present their work and share their responsive, intimate writings about art with others. The journal, website, and public events all serve as forums for the diverse voices of artists and writers. Each forum allows us to fulfill our mission to promote vibrant critical discourse about contemporary art, as we gather publics invested in the challenging ideas generated by artistic practice.
